Existing island networks are connected to a central heat supply system through combined heat supply which in turn replaces the existing peripheral heat generators. This allows for the deployment of existing supply structures and the use of waste heat from e. g. waste incineration plants, CHP systems, wood chip plants or biogas plants.

In order to establish a combined heat supply, the general conditions have to be determined and the temperature, pressure level as well as the hydraulic design have to be optimized.
